Chinese New Year 2016

Emperor's Plater
Some of my closes Malaysian friends living in the lower mainland area celebrated or as we say it, ushered in the new year of monkey at the famous Chinese restaurant in Chinatown named Flota on February 7th, 2016. Five families dined on a nine course dinner in a specially arranged karaoke room.

We started with the Emperor's Plater which had five items served in one plater. There were roast pork in the centre and four different items forming a circle around the roast pork. The items were jelly fish, barbecue pork, roast duck and soy sauce beef.

The second course was the Honey Pork Ribs which was another really appetizing course. The kids

really liked this particular dish because it was crunchy and sweet.

There were nineteen of us all together for the Chinese New year reunion dinner that evening and among us were our children. Actually there were nine kids aged between twenty three and twelve.

One of the must mentioned cuisine was the lobster. We had two sets for every type of cuisine. Although, we have had lobster cuisines in different restaurants before and most of these seafood restaurants also prepare the lobster cuisines with different recipes. The lobster cuisine we ate that evening wasn't really different or stand out among the rest. It was just common.

But our main objective that night was not just the food, it was more of celebrating and keeping to tradition. Overall we enjoyed the karaoke more than the nine course dinner. So much so that we were the last group of customer to leave the restaurant that night. Other than serving traditional Chinese New year cuisines, the service was good. In fact, the staff waited patiently for us to leave.
