Chinese Donut (Yau Char Keow) |
Double Double is the name of a restaurant in Richmond that serves some of the tastiest and authentic Cantonese cuisines in Vancouver. I have been there a couple of ties and usually with friends and family. This restaurant was introduced to me by a friend living in the Richmond area. Seems like a popular restaurant for Cantonese cuisines.
It is located right across the No.3 Road from Canadian Superstore in Richmond along a stretch of Chinese restaurants. The most unique feature about the cuisines here is the size. Not exactly the portion but the size is extra large. For instants, the so called Chinese donut (yau char keow) is really big. I have never seen such a large yau char keow before. Then, there is this sesame seed ball, which is really double the size of any sesame seed ball I have seen.

Radish Cake |
I have had the fish porridge here too and it was tasty. One of the best fish porridge in town. Anyway, Chinese restaurants have always been serving great rice porridge. So, nothing to shout about. But the carrot cake cuisine is pretty special. Not fried the same way as the Penang Carrot Cake (actually radish), but the carrot cake here is very flavourful and cooked with the same ingredients as to the Penang version.
Then there is this fried shrimp wuntun which is also really large. The shrimp wuntun are exceptionally larger than any wuntun in the market. Being large in attractive but they actually taste pretty good too.

Fried Shrimp Wuntun |
Double double is a full dine in restaurant and also serve a full range of Cantonese cuisines but I like and enjoy the lighter cuisines. In there menu, there are lunch and dinner cuisines with all these extras that I have mentioned above. I just like the extras or these side orders more than the main courses. I have also had the fried beef noodles which was a tasty experience. Again, another common Cantonese noodle cuisine done well to perfection.
