Malaysian Fragranted Briyani Chicken Rice

Briyani Chicken Rice
I was surprised by my wife with her home cooked Briyani Chicken rice dinner yesterday. In fact, she had planed to cook the briyani chicken rice since the weekend but could not do so because there were some ingredients still missing. Early in the day yesterday, she went shopping and saw some ready to cook sauces and spices on the shelves in the grocery store. So, rather than figuring out the ingredients and the right amount of each ingredient to put in the briyani rice cuisine, cooking from a pre-packed briyani rice spices would be much easier.

Briyani Chicken Rice with Cucumber & Carrot Acar
As it turned out, the briyani chicken rice was really good. The result wasn't as colorful as the briyani rice cuisine which we find in the restaurant but the taste, flavour and aroma was wonderfully delicious. The pre-packed spices were just as good and easy to use. Maybe even easier than preparing from scratch. I had a second helping of the briyani chicken rice which I have not done so (having second helpings) in a long time during dinner. A few days before, I had attended a function at my workplace and we had briyani chicken rice too. But yesterday's home cooked briyani chicken rice was nearly as good.

Northern Indian Specialty Cuisine
In Malaysia, briyani rice cuisines are usually common in weddings and special occasions. But it is more of a typical Malay cuisine than Chinese. There are also several versions of this special rice cuisine. I do not really know the difference between the different versions of briyani rice. But certainly, is one of my favorite rice cuisine. All I know is that, the differences are in the recipe and the origin of the rice cuisine. There are also coffee shops that serves only briyani rice in Kuala Lumpur, especially in the Bangsar area. Occasionally, on Fridays after Friday prayers in Malaysia, many Malay coffee shops serves briyani rice cuisines too.
